Do women want to pay for sex?
March 13, 2006 by NML
I couldn’t help but snicker to myself as I read several articles over the past few days regarding Heidi Fleiss, the former queen of vice’s plans to open what she refers to as a ‘Stud Farm’. Yes ladies, for $250 you can get your pound of flesh in the form of a male prostitute. Not content with providing high class hookers to male movie stars (because they’re in dire need of sex didn’t you know), this new venture is geared towards fulfilling women’s sexual needs. Now I appreciate that there are some women out there that are willing to pay for sex, but I didn’t know that there were so many of them that it warrants a brothel being opened!
Maybe I’m reading too much into things but men and women are fundamentally different, so whilst there are a multitude of men that are more than willing to service their swollen ego’s by paying for sex so that they can control the environment, get the medicine they don’t get from their girlfriends/wives, play out their various fantasies whilst they get their rocks off, I don’t think that there are a multitude of women out there that would want to pay for sex for these reasons.
For the average man on the street, getting hit on by women and offered the possibility of sex is like all of their Christmases come together in one go. Ask any normal guy how many women have hit on him, asked him out or offered him sex in the last week and most will struggle to come up with even one incident. Ask many women and they can think of several incidents. If we really want sex, we can get it without having to thumb a few dirty notes in our purses.
I firmly believe that for the majority of women, sex is beyond being a purely physical thing, and does tend to be an emotional, physical and sometimes spiritual experience. If one of those things is off, we tend not to feel too good afterwards. Women find it a lot harder to go out and shag without a conscience. For some men, that’s synonymous with breathing.
There are a lot more women out there that do want to have casual sex so I can only assume that Heidi is trying to appeal to these women. The interesting thing about women that want to have casual sex is that often whilst they think they want casual sex, they do find that there are emotional repercussions for it. Men don’t take too kindly to being told in advance that all they’re needed for is a shag and give some of these women a hard time (I keep telling them to zip it, shag now, explain later) and on top of that, sometimes the very reason why they want to have casual sex and how they will deal with the event isn’t examined enough, which means that it comes back to bite them after the event.
Heidi believes that because women make more money these days, that there are plenty out there that will pay for it. Her friends in Hollywood (I’m pretty sure that most of us have drawn the conclusion that rich people in Hollywood are very different to everyone else) want to use this service, plus she claims to have had emails from women all over the world clambering for a visit.
Over 3000 men have applied to ‘work’ there. The star of the show is Lester James Brandt, a former soap star (read:out of work actor) and something says to me that many of those 3000 are out of work actors also. Sounds to me like these guys are getting paid to do what they naturally do in their spare time – shag around. I’m surprised that women would feel the need to pay to have sex with out of work actors, who to be fair, are ten a penny in big cities. It’s a shame that these studs aren’t doctors, lawyers, investment bankers…;-)
Heidi applies a ‘good for the goose, good for the gander’ attitude towards this proposition but any woman who hasn’t been asleep for the past God knows how many years realises that actually, we don’t want to be like men or have exactly what they have. It’s not all it’s cracked up to be and not all of us want to grow some proverbial nuts to fit into a man’s world and be an alpha woman lying on her back getting a good seeing to for $250.
The Los Angeles Times joked that it should be called Cuddle Farm and iVillage wisecracked that it should be called Heidi’s House of Listening and Foot Rubs, if this venture is about what women want. Now whilst I’m sure women do want more than these things, it’s safe to say that sex on its own and paying for it to boot, is not the answer.
I don’t know one woman that would pay for sex, or if they would, they aren’t admitting it. I know I wouldn’t, but that’s no surprise considering that I own a rabbit vibrator that barely gets any use. I think Heidi’s clearly let penises go to her head too much and they are clouding her judgement.
Or am I wrong? Would you pay for sex?
