Empty Milk Cartons

October 22, 2005 by NML

Do they belong in the fridge or the bin?

Let me put something out there: If the milk carton is empty, why would anyone in their right mind want to put it in the fridge? It’s empty and it has no milk in it which means it will no longer serve any purpose to anyone who is seeking to get milk.

When you add in the fact that men won’t replace empty toilet roll, won’t refill the ice cubes, won’t pick up their clothes off the floor, won’t put their dishes away, I’m inclined to think that there is something seriously wrong. Are men still clinging to a childhood fantasy where fairies put money under their pillows when they lose a tooth and they also do all of the above and more? Or do they assume that ‘some woman’ will do it?
And just so we’re clear, empty milk cartons is the same as when you put empty biscuit packets, empty multi pack crisp bags, empty anything back where you took it from. Where is the mental block? How hard can it be to put away your litter?
Here’s a big clue for guys about what the meaning is behind putting rubbish in the bin?
If you throw away the packaging of things that are finished, it not only lets others know that we have run out of those items, but it also shows that you are not age 2 and responsible enough to put your own litter in the bin.
Think about it: The energy you expel in putting the empty milk carton in the fridge cannot be hugely dissimilar to that required for putting it in the bin?
When did you lose your adult abilities and return to a childlike approach to responsibility?
This lesson is really simple:
When you have something in your hands that is empty, finished, whatever you want to call it, but no longer of any use to anyone, walk over to the bin, lift the lid or whatever you need to do, and place it inside. I know that the male mind is very concerned about whether something affects his penis, but trust me when I say that the bin will not suddenly come to life and bite it off.
Please note that if the bin is full, it needs to be taken out, but that’s a whole other lesson!
