I’m On My Travels! Fancy meeting up? In NYC This Weekend, plus Amsterdam & Paris soon

At the start of this week, I thought I had a weekend of decluttering, ferrying the kids around, and the usual weekend chaos, but instead I’m going to be in New York with one of my best friends getting some R&R. I will admit that it’s an escape trip – heartbroken from a Mr Unavailable (not me, her obviously) – but it’s certainly a well timed break to what I regard as my 3rd home (London and Dublin are the other two).
I’ve managed to pull together an event space for a meet-up this coming Sunday June 15th from 4pm-6pm thanks to a very kind and helpful BR reader – thank you!
Where: Jimmys 43, 43 E. 7th St. between 2nd & 3rd Avenues in the East Village. Nearby trains are the 6 to Astor Place, the R to Prince, and the F to 2nd Ave. From the sidewalk, need to walk down some stairs and the actual room, called the “Small Stage”, is at the end of the bar area.
Come along and say hi, I’ll do a couple of readings, you can get your Mr Unavailable and the Fallback Girl book signed, I’ll answer questions, you can show my friend that she’s certainly not alone, and no doubt we’ll have a laugh and I hope to see some of you who I’ve met at other events I’ve had out there! If you can make it, RSVP to natalie AT baggage reclaim DOT co DOT uk and put NYC RSVP in the subject line as there is limited space. Please do RSVP and try not to do that commitment-phobe thing where you RSVP and then don’t show!
I’ll also be in Amsterdam the week of the 23rd so if you’re based there, let me know as we can arrange to meet somewhere probably on Tuesday 24th or Wednesday 25th.
I’ll also be in Paris from the 15th August for a few days, so if you’re based there, also give me a shout. It would likely be the 16th August in the evening.
natalie AT baggage reclaim DOT co DOT uk with ‘Amsterdam RSVP’ or ‘Paris RSVP’ in the subject line. If you can suggest a location, all the better, especially for Paris.
UK readers – I’m doing a workshop in Manchester in the third week of September (I can’t remember the date but Kate will putting the details up next week) and I’ll do something in London and Birmingham as well.
Before I get US readers going “What? But you always go to New York! When are you coming to…?”, I am ready to breathe out and travel. The wedding is over, my 5 year old has completed her first year of school and my 3 year old will be starting preschool in September. It’s only now that I’m finding my feet as I have been physically and mentally exhausted trying to do a lot in about half the time I used to.
I’ll be back stateside on the 29th September and will be going west coast first.
If you want me to come anywhere else (doesn’t have to be the US), I need city, whether it’s a weekday or weekend, and a couple of location suggestions for events. Send it to my assistant Kate – AT baggage reclaim DOT co DOT uk.
Have a great weekend! Big squidgey hugs Nat xxx

Natalie, this is super exciting! You meant July 15th right and not June??
holy crap, natalie.
who else is in new york??? BR, weigh in! i have to do a family thing on sunday, but i might be able to get to the village by 4.
I’m in Vancouver, BC (though soon to be four hours away). I’m expecting to be visiting Washington late September so if someone gets you to Seattle I would love to hear about it.
Could you say more here about what you need to have lined up before you’ll do an event in a particular city? Does whoever invites you need to be able to fund your travel/accom/etc?
Great Natalie, would love to come to the one at Manchester, will keep a look out. Have a fab time in the big apple.
Aw, I’m going on a group hike on Sunday (trying to get out and meet people! taking care of myself, you know?!). Soooo disappointed to not meet you in person.
I would like to come to the Manchester one.I can’t wait.
Hey Nat!!
So glad that you are able to get out and about and do a bit of traveling!! When are you coming to the San Francisco bay area?? I would LOVE to meet you!
Gina
Yes, come to San Francisco!
Come to Vancouver, BC, Natalie! If you know the author Susannah Conway, she’s your fellow Brit and she’s here soon. I can send your assistant the deets on where she’s giving her talk. Might work for you, too.
Thanks for speaking in NYC today Natalie! You were great!! Hope you come back again soon!
Crumbs, I’m on the West Coast. It’s sunny and warm here and your daughters would love building sandcastles on the beach. All the folks on the East Coast that get to meet you are so lucky. One day, we’ll meet. You’ve so changed my life Natalie. Thank you.
Ooh, Nat says she’s coming to the West Coast in late September. Maybe southern California is on the itinerary? It is *awfully* nice here that time of year, esp. by the beach. Hint hint hint…
Hi Natalie, would love to meet you when you come to Amsterdam! How can we arrange a meeting?
Enjoy it
I cannot believe I stopped reading your site for a few days and just missed you in NYC. I am SO annoyed!!! Just saw my EUM/assclown again Tuesday. Why? I have no idea. Now I am disgusted with myself and back on your website. At least I know I’m not alone, but still… Disgusted!
I am definitely interested in the London meet-up in September. Will check back for details. ;-0
