As of last Saturday, something I mentioned several months back that would be happening came into effect – comment moderation.
What this means is that all comments must be approved before they are published as opposed to the previous setup which was automatic publication and removal thereafter if there was an issue. Unfortunately this in itself was problematic as I am on maternity leave which means that often comments were posted that potentially could have been removed, but other people had responded since, automatically making it a bit tricky.
Please note that no one person is being singled out and this is a move that has been on the cards for a long time and is frequently used across many blogs. The main reason it couldn’t be done before is that in being on maternity leave, there was the potential for comments not to be approved for days at a time which in itself would be annoying to readers.
Why moderation? Because I have tried the other way and there have been several ‘incidents’ over the past year that really pushed the boundaries of the commenting guidelines. But also because of spam issues.
Please remember that I am based in the UK if you are wondering why there is a delay to it being approved and allow up to 24 hours before you start sending me terse emails.
If your comment is not approved, it will be because it doesn’t meet the terms of use of the site. Should you have an issue with it and are pretty sure that there has been a mistake, please email nml AT baggagereclaim DOT co DOT uk

It’s been a while since I’ve been on here; been real busy. Keep doing what you have to do. Wishing you well during your maternity leave.
