The Venus Butterfly - Tried & Tested!

April 24, 2006 by Kitty Kat

Venus ButterflyNot surprisingly, this little gadget was given to me as a gift from a man three years ago. This type of vibrator appeals to men’s gift giving sensibilities.

That’s most likely due to the fact that it’s pink, resembles wildlife, and is marketed as a device that you can wear under your panties during the day. Men love the thought that women might secretly be stimulating themselves all day long at the office, at the grocery store or at a PTA meeting.
I have an actual sextoy-box that I keep in my nightstand. The Venus Butterfly has lived in there, unused, since its arrival to my collection. I knew that I must break it out and try it as a service to Please Kitty readers. This is my story…

There are three black straps and it took me some time to sort out exactly how to wear this contraption. One of the straps goes around the back of the waist while the other two each hook around a thigh. Initially I had put it on so that the nose was up by my clit, and the tail was down by my vagina. Because the nose was about ½ an inch higher than my clit, and the tail was at such an angle that it actually nearly ripped my vagina when I inserted it, I thought that I had it the wrong way around. So I put it on with the nose facing down. This didn’t work at all because the tail is quite long and got stuck in the hood of my clit. Finally, I settled with the nose facing upwards.

Since the nose reached higher than my clit, and the tail was inserted inside my vagina at a painful angle, I was forced to use both hands in order to hold it in a useful place. I cranked up the battery-powered control to high and lay on my back using both hands to hold it in the most desirable position. The vibrating sensation alone, which wasn’t all that strong anyway, got to be quite annoying, and every woman knows that it‘s not only a vibrating sensation that’s needed, but rubbing also. So I began to rub it back and forth, trying to get the nose to properly stimulate my clit. After a bit, I determined that I needed to get on my knees in order to get more leverage and some hip motion going. With my face buried in a pillow, my arse stuck up in the air, and the Venus Butterfly strapped to my twat, I wiggled my hips and used my hands to manipulate the contraption over my clit and vagina. The Venus Butterfly has quite a bloated belly, and the sensation of the belly rubbing over my inner labia and the entrance to my vagina was quite pleasurable once I became lubed up. After a considerable amount of time and effort on my behalf, I finally did manage to have an orgasm, nothing earth shattering or mind-blowing either. The truth is, if I’d wanted to work that hard for an orgasm, I’d have had sex with a man. Vibrators and dildos shouldn’t be more work for you. They should have the capability to quickly and easily bring you to orgasm. Otherwise you may as well just save your money and use you fingers instead. One of the marketing hooks for this product is that you’re supposed to be able to discreetly be able to wear it during the day. I don’t see how that’s possible in the real world. It’s not small, and unless a woman wanted to walk around looking like she either had a cock between her legs, or an oversized maxi-pad, it would be impossible to discreetly wear it underneath jeans or trousers. It may be undetectable under a skirt, but it’s quite bulky and would prevent you from walking properly. Also, forget about discreetly pleasuring yourself in public. This thing is loud. Not to mention that you’d look pretty strange with a wire and control sticking out of your skirt or trousers.

Another marketing hook is that you can also wear it during intercourse. I don’t see how that could be logistically possible. There’s not enough room for the Venus Butterfly and a cock at the same time. It is long enough to cover the entire length of the vagina, so if you did use it during intercourse, you’d have to hold it in place with your hand. I imagine that’s more work than is really necessary.

I will concede one thing. Every woman’s vagina is different, differently shaped, different length, etc. It is possible that if a woman’s vagina’s size and shape perfectly corresponded to the size and shape of the Venus Butterfly, and if she enjoyed having a monotonous and dull buzzing on her clit, this could be a super toy for her. But only under those circumstances.
All in all, the Venus Butterfly is more of a novelty item than a serious sex toy or masturbation aid. And if you’re a man looking to buy a gift for a woman, please choose one of the other toys that is recommended by Kitty Kay & Kitty Kat.

I bought a gift similiar to this from Babes in Toyland website (it’s not a butterfly and it’s green). I have sex with my fiancee while she is wearing this. She maneuvers it in place and moves it around while we have intercourse. She has 3-4 orgasms with it on (we have to take a 1-15 second break between them). It really isn’t that difficult to have intercourse - you just have to hold the strap that goes between her legs to the side. I stand at the side of the bed and scoot her but to the edge of the bed. I hold her legs up by the ankles and away we go. This one has quite a bit of vibration, but like you said, it probably feels better with something inside. Have fun with it, it might work for you :-)
