A few days ago I attended the launch of the inaugural Cosmo Blog Awards where they want to track down the best blogs across a variety of categories including beauty, fashion, gadget tech, and of course, sex and relationships, which is where you come in. Between now and August 4th is the nomination period and I’d love it if you’d nominate me ‘Baggage Reclaim’ in the sex and relationships category. The Cosmo website has over 600K readers a month and if we can get Baggage Reclaim out there, it’ll help in spreading the word on reclaiming yourself and offloading baggage such as dodgy love habits and assclowns and Mr Unavailables. I just voted for you. I swear! It will be an ABSOLUTE crime if you do not win and I stated that in my explanation of why they need to choose Baggage Reclaim. How great if more women could find the self-confidence & inner peace that results from taking your advice and beginning to practice better relationship behavior. This is my community, my family, my home where I feel SAFE and where I continue to learn how to be what my mother/father should have taught me but couldn’t – because they didn’t know themselves.
I had been trying to leave an 8 year dys-functional r/s when I stumbled upon this blog. It did in just 3 days what I’d seriously trying to be doing since ’07. That’s how critical this blog is! It may sound simple to stop/cease all contact, but there’s that void, that devastating, tremendous void and that’s where this blog, Baggage Reclaim, comes in. Until I could get on my feet and my sanity/self-respect/self-worth rebuilt, this was and still to some extent is and most likely will always be MY LIFELINE.
I’ve been all over the web and NOwhere have I found the ongoing wisdom, support, encouragement and do-able suggestions that have been shared on this blog.

This blog saved my life!
I was left devastated after my partner walked out on me, completely lost and very, very confused.
It was the 1st time id ever been with a man who blew hot and cold.
I typed in “hot and cold men” into Google and came across a post from Baggage Reclaim explaining exactly what it meant and how it works and why they do it.
Finally thank god!!!!! I realised I wasn’t going insane, there was a name for this type of behaviour
I kept reading and found more and more articles that made sense, got me thinking and allowed me to work through my issues and realise that I wasn’t some terrible person not worth loving.
I know this might sound a bit over the top but I have honestly changed in ways I never thought possible and they are changes that will be life lasting. Knowledge is power and that includes with human interactions. If you have an understanding of things, the grief process after the breakdown of a relationship and all the other countless things, it makes it easier to hold on tight and get through it.
Knowing your not alone is priceless, reading all the other people’s thoughts on baggage reclaim meant I didn’t feel alone in my pain. Baggage reclaim would send articles that sometimes seemed to be exactly what I needed to read that day. Over the Xmas period which was only two months after he left, we were sent posts about getting through Xmas, how to not reach out. Boy it was so helpful!! Again I felt less alone, like I had an army of women and men behind me pushing me on.
I learnt how to do NC which is the No Contact Rule, most men want to be friends when they leave and this can be very harmful to moving on or even gaining a healthy perspective.
I took her advice; it was hard, DO NOT CONTACT this person no matter what or at least until 6-12 months down the track.
It worked; I went from feeling helpless with no control to having all the control which aloud me to work on my own stuff and grow.
Of course now ten months later I still have this useless man chasing me for a “friendship” only now I see him leaving me was the best thing that could have happened to me ?
I’ve learnt so much, grown and evolved thanks to baggage reclaim giving me idea’s, getting me to think differently, giving me tools and my own hard work!
