I would suggest that if you don’t know the score by now, that you should make other plans. Never be someone’s back up option or last resort that they can just call up and expect you to jump to their beat.
But more importantly, go spend Christmas with someone who gives a damn about you. Hell, go and enjoy your Christmas! Enjoy YOU! Park whoever is on your mind, breathe out and enjoy yourself!
Don’t lose this time in a haze of wondering if he’ll call, text, or email, or jumping every time your phone rings, or fending off questions from your family and friends about why you look so miserable or why you keep going into the other room. Don’t isolate yourself because imposing that on you will cause you to seek sustenance from the very thing that detracts from you.
I’m off to hang with the kids and the boyf but after Christmas I will bear good tidings. Back in a couple of days.
Hugs, Natalie/NML xxx
PS, I’ve had quite a few emails asking about the kids who are now just over 8 months and 2.5 years so here is a pic of the divas!
The girls look darling – thanks for sharing the picture, NML :)!
Merry Christams and Happy New Year 2010 to you.
Thank you a zillion trillion times for all the wonderful advice/insights/WISE suggestions and HEART-STRENGTHENING support you provide so generously all year long !

So darned cute!!
NML, Thank you so much for getting me through the past 3.5 months. Thanks to you, counseling, friends, books, etc… I am happier than I have been in longer than I can remember and I think I FINALLY get it, I FINALLY know what it means to love and accept myself. Everything happens for a reason and I believe this assclown came back three times, because I am a slow learner and didnt get that lesson the first time. But, now I know and I have learned the lesson I was supposed to learn. I am so grateful for this site! Happy Holidays!

One thing that really helped me last year when I was finally NC around the holiday was to just enjoy any and all kids that were around me. My own two boys are older teens now 16, and 19, but there are a lot of little ones at my church, and a few in my family, and somehow if you just focus on hanging out with them and catching their joy, play with their toys or a game with them or sit and read a book together or watch a video, it can really put a bright spot on a rough day!
Thank you for posting that picture, too! Wow, your girls are so sweet and happy looking! Obviously loved very much!

Absolutely gorgeous little girls,Natalie! A very, very happy Christmas to you and yours.Thank you so very much for all the inspiring help and advice, which, along with this site, has also saved me and brought me face to face with the me that I was and that I no longer wanted to be.After my spectacular relapse in September when I was urgently SOS ing you, I am in such a better place now. In fact the relapse was my epiphany,I really had to put my hand back into the fire to be very clear that it BURNS. And there are so many better things to be doing than self destructing over an assclown. So thanks again and merry xmas to all.

OHHH, hose kids are adorable NML, but even better is they will be raised to be stable wise women of the next generation. That pic makes me remember that most all of us knew the innocence of pure joy long ago, before the various areseclowns of the world showed us the dark side. Yet, I believe it is it is in our abilities to know that state of pure joy even in our complicated adult lives; watching and experiencing with the little ones is one way to help get us in touch with it. Let’s always work to know joy in us, and also to protect the joy in kids’ lives. Happy, Joyous New Year all BR’s :- )

Absolutely beautiful little ones! Thanks for keeping it real in 2009. Here’s to 2010! Much love and blessings!
I’ve been running Baggage Reclaim since September 2005, and I’ve spent many thousands of hours writing this labour of love. The site has been ad-free the entire time, and it costs hundreds of pounds a month to run it on my own. If what I share here has helped you and you’re in a position to do so, I would love if you could make a donation. Your support is so very much appreciated! Thank you.
